A statement in response to recent anti-Asian hate crimes:

Dear Friends,

For the past year – and sadly well before, Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in the United States and around the world have been targeted for acts of hate. The recent tragedy in Atlanta is the latest in a long string of ongoing attacks on the Asian American community. We express our sincere condolences to those grieving the loss of loved ones or who fear for their own safety daily, or that of their friends and family members. This hate must stop.

At Project: VISION, we believe in a world where we acknowledge and work to undo, unlearn, and address systemic racism. Now is not the time to be silent. We are committed to calling out and standing against racism, prejudice, xenophobia, and hate of any kind. As an organization serving the Asian American immigrant community and youth, we will speak out, help amplify our community’s experiences and stories, and stand in solidarity with our neighbors and friends in the interconnected communities around us.

Together, with our AAPI community members, allies, and others, we will work toward solutions that empower our community through education, resources, and relevant programming aligned with key community partners. We will continue to create safe spaces and continue to actively reflect on the ways that Project: VISION can help create a more just world.
